Defence, Power and Railway Firms Secure ₹4,927 Crore in Orders

New Delhi, October 17, 2026: Indian companies operating in the defence, power and railway infrastructure sectors have secured fresh business orders worth approximately ₹4,927 crore, highlighting continued investment in strategic manufacturing, electricity transmission and railway development. The new contracts are expected to strengthen revenue visibility and support business growth across key infrastructure industries.
Among the major beneficiaries, Kalpataru Projects International Ltd (KPIL) has secured power transmission and distribution orders worth approximately ₹2,031 crore in domestic and international markets. Its Swedish subsidiary, Linjemontage i Grästorp AB, has also received an order worth around ₹194 crore. The company has reported cumulative order inflows of approximately ₹20,000 crore during the current financial year so far, reflecting strong demand for transmission infrastructure and grid expansion.
In the defence sector, Bharat Dynamics Ltd (BDL) has received a contract worth ₹1,307 crore from the Indian Navy for heavyweight torpedoes. The order reinforces the company’s role in supplying specialised defence equipment to India’s armed forces and supports the country’s efforts to strengthen domestic defence manufacturing.
Adani Power has secured a long-term power supply agreement with Uttarakhand Power Corporation for 1,234 megawatts of electricity. The reported 25-year arrangement is expected to contribute to long-term demand visibility in the power sector, although implementation will depend on the applicable contractual and regulatory requirements.
Railway infrastructure company IRCON International has won an engineering, procurement and construction contract worth approximately ₹862.46 crore from East Central Railway. The project involves track-related and associated infrastructure work, supporting railway capacity expansion and modernisation.
Meanwhile, Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) has secured additional defence-related orders worth ₹533 crore. The contracts reportedly cover drones, cybersecurity solutions and other defence technologies, reflecting growing demand for advanced electronic systems and security equipment.
The combined order announcements highlight opportunities across India’s infrastructure and defence supply chains. However, winning contracts does not automatically translate into immediate profits. Investors will continue to monitor execution schedules, project costs, payment cycles and future order inflows.
