Air India Cancels Flights to Three Saudi Cities Until October 20 Amid Security Concerns

New Delhi, October 16, 2026: Air India has extended the cancellation of all flights to and from Riyadh, Dammam and Jeddah until October 20, 2026, amid growing security concerns following attacks on civilian airports and aviation infrastructure in Saudi Arabia.

The airline announced the decision on Friday, stating that it was closely monitoring developments in the region and continuously assessing the situation to determine when flight operations could safely resume. The latest extension follows an earlier suspension that was scheduled to remain in effect until October 17.

In its statement, Air India said passenger and crew safety remained its highest priority. The airline also confirmed that passengers affected by the cancellations would be offered a full refund. Travellers are advised to check their flight status and contact the airline before proceeding to the airport.

The disruption comes amid escalating tensions in the Middle East following attacks attributed to Yemen’s Houthi movement targeting Saudi aviation infrastructure. The developments have raised concerns about the safety of civilian air travel and prompted several international and regional airlines to revise their schedules.

Other Indian carriers have also announced changes to their Saudi Arabia services. IndiGo has extended the suspension of flights to several Saudi cities, while Akasa Air has separately adjusted its operations in response to the prevailing security situation. The duration of these suspensions varies by airline and destination.

The cancellations are likely to affect passengers travelling for employment, business, family visits and religious purposes. Travellers with connecting flights may also need to review their itineraries and make alternative arrangements.

Air India has said it will continue monitoring the situation and assess developments before restoring services. The resumption of flights will depend on security assessments and the ability to operate safely.

Passengers can visit the airline’s official website for the latest travel advisories, booking updates and refund information.
