The order covers various divisions and establishments in both Jammu and Kashmir, with the officers directed to join their new assignments immediately.

The reshuffle was issued under Government Order No. 173-JK (JSD) of 2026, dated October 1, following the placement of Assistant Executive Engineers (Mechanical) in the department. The government stated that the changes were made in the interest of administration.

The extensive exercise covers several important wings, including Public Health Engineering (PHE) Mechanical, Mechanical Irrigation, Ground Water Drilling, Quality Control and Procurement, Irrigation and Flood Control, and Tube-Well Irrigation.

In the Jammu division, several officers have been assigned new responsibilities in PHE Mechanical divisions and irrigation establishments across Jammu, Kathua, Rajouri, Udhampur and Reasi. The changes also affect technical and operational arrangements in ground water drilling and mechanical irrigation units.

In the Kashmir division, the reshuffle covers Srinagar, Baramulla, Sopore, Awantipora, Budgam, Ganderbal, Anantnag and other areas. Officers have been posted to different mechanical water supply, irrigation, procurement and flood-control establishments.

The order also includes postings to the Jammu and Kashmir Water Resources Regulatory Authority, District Inspection and Quality Control units, and the Mission Directorate of the Jal Jeevan Mission in Jammu and Kashmir.

Several officers have been assigned additional responsibilities alongside their regular duties to facilitate departmental functioning.

According to the order, all concerned officers must report to their new places of posting forthwith and are not entitled to joining time.

The administrative exercise is aimed at realigning technical manpower across the department’s water supply, irrigation, drilling and flood-control operations. The reshuffle is expected to strengthen the functioning of the Jal Shakti Department’s mechanical establishments throughout Jammu and Kashmir.
