PM Modi Addresses the Nation Through Mann Ki Baat

New Delhi, October 25, 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation through the 139th episode of his monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat on Sunday, highlighting grassroots innovation, environmental conservation, traditional agriculture, scientific research and the contributions of ordinary citizens to India’s development.
The programme, which began 12 years ago on Vijayadashami, has become a platform for sharing inspiring stories of individuals and communities working for social progress. Modi described the programme as an opportunity to recognise the dedication, service and achievements of people across the country.
Traditional Farming and Local Products in Focus
During the broadcast, the Prime Minister highlighted the Nav-Trinjan initiative in Punjab’s Malwa region, where the Kheti Virasat Mission is promoting natural cotton cultivation and traditional weaving practices. The initiative seeks to preserve traditional skills while encouraging environmentally friendly farming and creating livelihood opportunities.
Modi also encouraged citizens to support locally manufactured products and artisans during the festive season. Referring to India’s Vocal for Local movement, he discussed how improved packaging and innovative marketing can help traditional products reach wider domestic and international markets.
He cited examples of products from tribal communities and agricultural regions that are finding new markets, emphasising the role of local entrepreneurship in strengthening rural livelihoods.
Community Efforts to Protect the Environment
Environmental conservation was another major theme of the address. The Prime Minister highlighted efforts by villagers and local authorities in Uttarakhand’s Tehri Garhwal region to revive the Heval river.
According to Modi, community-led measures such as rainwater harvesting, groundwater recharge and tree plantation have helped improve the river’s condition and restore several natural water sources. He stressed that collective participation and individual responsibility are essential for protecting the environment.
Technology, Healthcare and Scientific Research
The Prime Minister also discussed India’s growing use of technology in healthcare, highlighting the e-Sanjeevani telemedicine platform, which has facilitated approximately 50 crore consultations.
Recalling his visit to IIT Madras, Modi spoke about young innovators working on artificial intelligence, advanced batteries, electric aviation and technologies aimed at addressing everyday challenges. He also paid tribute to scientist Narinder Singh Kapany, known as the Father of Fibre Optics, ahead of his birth centenary on October 31.
Call for Unity and Social Harmony
Modi urged citizens to participate in the upcoming Run for Unity on October 31, marking the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. He also highlighted the values of compassion, service and social harmony reflected in the Ramayan of Maharishi Valmiki.
Concluding the programme, the Prime Minister extended festive greetings for Diwali and Chhath, urging people to celebrate safely, maintain cleanliness and share their happiness with others.
The address highlighted the importance of community participation, innovation and the preservation of India’s cultural and agricultural heritage in building a more inclusive and sustainable future.
