PM Modi Discusses West Asia With Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, Calls for Peace and Stability

New Delhi, October 24, 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a telephone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on October 22, during which the two leaders discussed recent developments in West Asia and stressed the urgent need to restore peace and stability in the region. Modi reiterated India’s position that dialogue and diplomacy remain the way forward for resolving conflicts.

According to an official statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the conversation also focused on the continued progress of relations between India and Israel. Both leaders welcomed the sustained momentum in bilateral ties and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the India-Israel Special Strategic Partnership.

The discussion comes amid continuing tensions and security challenges across West Asia, a region of considerable importance to India’s energy requirements, trade links and the safety of Indian nationals living and working abroad. New Delhi has consistently advocated peaceful solutions, restraint and diplomatic engagement while maintaining relations with countries across the region.

India Reiterates Its Call for Diplomacy

During the conversation, Modi emphasised the importance of restoring peace and stability. Although the official statement did not disclose specific proposals or agreements discussed during the call, it underlined India’s preference for diplomatic engagement as a means of addressing regional challenges.

The two leaders also agreed to remain in touch, signalling their intention to continue consultations on bilateral relations and developments affecting regional stability.

India-Israel Strategic Partnership

India and Israel have expanded cooperation in several areas, including defence, agriculture, water management, science and technology, innovation and trade. Their partnership has developed through regular high-level exchanges and cooperation in sectors considered important for economic growth and national security.

The latest conversation reflects the importance both governments attach to maintaining close communication while addressing emerging regional challenges. However, the PMO statement did not announce any new agreement or specific initiative resulting from the telephone call.

Netanyahu Invites Modi to Israel

Separately, Netanyahu invited Modi to participate in Israel’s Independence Day celebrations during the same telephone conversation. The invitation added a diplomatic dimension to the exchange, which covered both bilateral relations and the situation in West Asia.

The conversation highlights India’s continuing diplomatic engagement with Israel and its stated commitment to peace through dialogue. As developments in West Asia continue to attract international attention, the two countries are expected to maintain communication on matters of mutual interest.
