PM Modi's Varanasi Visit on the Agenda

Varanasi, October 24, 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to visit Varanasi on October 25 as part of his proposed two-day programme covering Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh and Kedarnath in Uttarakhand. The visit is expected to focus on development initiatives, industrial activity and the Indian Air Force’s aerial display over the Ganga. m
According to reports, the Prime Minister is likely to attend the concluding day of the Indian Air Force’s “Wings Over Ganges” air show at Namo Ghat on Sunday. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh are also expected to attend the event.
The air show, organised as part of the Indian Air Force’s 94th anniversary celebrations, is scheduled for October 22, 24 and 25. It is expected to showcase the capabilities of the country’s air power through performances by Rafale, Sukhoi and Tejas fighter aircraft, alongside the Surya Kiran aerobatic team and Sarang helicopter display team.
The programme is expected to attract large crowds to the riverfront, prompting extensive security and traffic arrangements across the city. Police and administrative officials have been preparing for VIP movement, crowd management and emergency response. Authorities are also coordinating arrangements around Namo Ghat and adjoining areas to facilitate the event.
Apart from the air show, Modi is likely to inaugurate a factory in the Sevapuri area and participate in programmes connected with Varanasi’s development. However, the complete list of projects and the final details of the Prime Minister’s engagements have not been officially confirmed in the reports available so far.
Varanasi, the Prime Minister’s parliamentary constituency, has been a major focus of infrastructure and urban development initiatives in recent years. Improvements to transport, public amenities and facilities for pilgrims are important for the city, which attracts visitors throughout the year.
The proposed visit also includes a trip to Kedarnath in Uttarakhand, where the Prime Minister is expected to review progress on the Kedarnath Corridor development project. The review is likely to focus on infrastructure improvements and facilities for pilgrims visiting the Himalayan shrine.
The programme brings together industrial development, public engagement and a showcase of India’s defence capabilities. Further official details are awaited regarding the final itinerary and the specific projects to be inaugurated.
