Rain and Snow Likely in Parts of J&K

Srinagar, October 29: Jammu and Kashmir is likely to witness brief spells of light rain and snowfall over higher-altitude areas, according to the latest forecast issued by the Meteorological Department. The weather activity is expected at scattered locations, while most parts of the Union Territory are likely to experience generally dry conditions over the coming days.
According to reports published on Thursday, light rain may occur in parts of the plains, while higher reaches could receive light snowfall. The forecast comes as temperatures begin to reflect the seasonal transition from autumn towards winter across the region.
Higher Reaches May Receive Fresh Snowfall
The possibility of fresh snowfall in elevated areas is likely to attract attention from residents, tourists and people travelling through mountainous routes. Higher-altitude locations generally experience colder conditions than the plains, making them more susceptible to early-season snowfall.
Travellers heading towards mountainous destinations have been advised to remain alert to changing weather conditions and check official road and weather advisories before starting their journeys.
Even light precipitation can affect visibility and road conditions in high-altitude areas, particularly where temperatures are low. Motorists travelling through mountain passes should exercise caution and follow instructions issued by the traffic authorities.
Mostly Dry Weather Expected After the Brief Spell
The Meteorological Department has indicated that weather conditions are likely to remain generally dry on October 30 and 31. Partly cloudy skies are expected between November 1 and 3, with generally dry conditions continuing through November 6.
However, brief spells of light rain at isolated places and light snowfall over higher reaches cannot be ruled out during the forecast period. No significant weather activity has been predicted for most of these days, according to the published forecast.
Residents Advised to Follow Weather Updates
The changing weather is expected to bring cooler conditions to higher reaches, while temperatures across the plains may fluctuate. Residents are advised to monitor official weather bulletins, especially if they have travel plans involving hilly areas.
Farmers have also been advised to continue harvesting and other agricultural operations in view of the predominantly dry conditions forecast for the coming days.
The latest forecast provides an indication of the expected weather pattern, but conditions can change. Residents and travellers should therefore rely on updated advisories issued by the Meteorological Centre Srinagar and the relevant traffic authorities.
