Security Operations Remain in Focus Across J&K

Srinagar, October 23, 2026: Security operations continue to remain a major focus across Jammu and Kashmir as police and security forces intensify efforts to detect suspected militant activity, recover illegal arms and explosives, and dismantle networks allegedly supporting terrorist operations.
In a significant development on Friday, security forces recovered suspected explosive devices and other materials from a suspected hideout in the Kasbalari area of Mendhar in Poonch district. The recovery followed a search operation launched on the basis of specific intelligence inputs, officials said.
According to reports, the recovered items included six brown tape-insulated containers suspected to be improvised explosive devices (IEDs), another blue tape-insulated container suspected to be an IED, a black bag, a combat pouch and an iron box suspected to be a magazine. Other materials included a magazine suspected to be associated with a 7.62 mm light machine gun, an aluminium container, power adapters, a power source and a tiffin.
Officials said further investigation had been initiated to determine the nature of the recovered materials and establish their possible links to unlawful activities.
The latest recovery comes amid a series of security-related developments in the Union Territory. On October 22, police and the Army arrested two suspected terrorist associates in the Delina area of Baramulla district. The joint operation reportedly led to the recovery of two IEDs weighing approximately 15 kilograms and 7.5 kilograms, a pistol, ammunition, a scooter and cash.
According to preliminary investigations, the arrested individuals were suspected of facilitating the movement and supply of weapons and explosives. Authorities said further inquiries were underway to establish possible links with other individuals and networks.
